So after seeing the posts about upgrading to the new CIC iDrive and all that good stuff I could never afford, I was thinking I could use an inexpensive upgrade for my iDrive. I doubt I could afford to retrofit one of the new control knobs, but are there any other options out there for upgrade/changing the control knob? Something that looks like the new F10's, gloss black perhaps some stainless steel accents? (I have the old idrive, a silver knob and a menu button, thats it)

Thats what I was thinking, perhaps just the knob off a newer iDrive rather than the whole controller, but i'm sure the knob's aren't compatible at all. I mean I suppose I could craft my own knob out of fiberglass or something like that. Well, does anyone know how to take the knob off? Just pull?
