If I remember correctly, BMW of San Francisco charged me $200 to install the iPod adapter and re-program the idrive. Lots of people install the adapter themselves and find out later that the stealer needs to program it. Shop around and gl!!

The total cost was $485 + $28 sales tax - the part was $300 and labor for recoding etc was $185 at BMW of Mountain View. My SA was Mark Mendez and
he was really helpful so give them a call if you are interested. My iDrive now has the latest ISTA/P 2.34 hence I have the new steel-gray look
as well as slightly updated navigation look-and-feel. The car runs a lot smoother with this s/w update but this is all anecdotal.
They also repaired the front passenger seat detection mat under a recall for which I paid nothing
