The cheapest way is to get the part and intall it yourself using the DIY. Then bring the car to the dealer only for the iDrive programming.

Here is the pdf for iPod interface install.

went to go check out Garage Works today, i must say this is a good place to take your vehicle if you are out of warranty. The two guys that run the shop are factory trained BMW mechanics. Both worked at Concord and Weatherford BMW for almost 10 years. Anything the dealer does they can do, from scheduled maintenance, to CIP software updates, IPOD install and programing and much more, for way less than what the dealer normally charges. I will have my bluetooh and CIP updated next time i visit them.

This is really GREAT to know. If you or anybody get their software updated (or any other work for that matter), please post your review of the work and the cost.

thanks

Hello,

I am getting mine installed tomorrow at BMW of Mountain View; they quoted $485 which seemed reasonable compared to
another dealer who wanted almost $800.

I will let you know if it all works out.

$485 is a great price if part is included.
