Is this a fair price for an iPod adapter and install?

Okay I have a issue that i cant figure out, I have a 32 gig ipod touch on my system and of course I know that you can only see about 500 songs or artist.

I thought that was for each directory, I have about 4100 songs on my ipod and I can access the first 500 songs this is not good for me because they are in alphabetical order and it only goes to the b's.

How do I struchter my ipod so that I can access all my music? I normally just do random playlist so I can get all genra's but now i just get the same songs over and over

How sure are you about this? The Gateway 500 emulates a CD changer and absolutely will not work in a BMW unless there is a CD changer present. (Or the car thinks a changer is present by programming and then removing the CD changer)
I'm 100% sure since I did myself without CDC/CDC preparation. Have a look at this thread.

My stereo plays MP3s now. Do I just need the hardware? No need to reprogram?
BTW my dealer quoted me around 500 bucks. Too rich for me...
I'm afraid I have but news for you. After hardware installation you need programming to enable the installed module. I don't think it will cost you much since in my case took about 15'.
