That means my diagram is correct and your word document was wrong again with respect to the bulbs connection. It's amazing how much you can understand with pictures.
Do you have a picture of this loop connection from PIN1 6 to PIN2 4 and PIN2 7?
Also last and most important question. What are the part numbers for the Retrofit Cable that you're BMW electrician used.

Somewhere in this thread its was mentioned that the E46 retrofit cable was used. However someone said that the E46 retrofit connector had all 7 pins in a single line which is why I'm suspecting that what your BMW garage has used SOMETHING else.
Part numbers are printed on the connectors but they never related to the BMW part they are actually the TYCO/AMP part number. Also in this case you will have part numbers printed on either side of this retrofit connector. It's best to contact your BMW garage and get the part number for the entire piece with all the wires, connectors and housing.
If there are any Grey labels attached to the Retrofit cables then they may provide some clues to the part number used. Lets hope its the E46 retrofit cable but just wanted to make sure. There are enough of p**sed people out there.
Alex.Br : Is another group buy with the lights and the retrofit cables (once we have that part number) possible. I'm sure there are a few of us out there who'd like to move now or missed the last one.

However you yourself said you bought the E46 retrofit cables and the garage modified it. Are you saying that you're not sure now. Don't you have a parts invoice that shows the part numbers of the goods you purchased.

Unfortunately I haven't had much time to experiment with my multimeter on the LCI taillights due to double shifts at work..thanks for all the efforts from the other members (bruce, bmw_wpq31, nick etc) - it seems the connections from pre lci > lci has been figured out - it just leaves the exact socket interface to be confirmed and a resistor implementation with the equivalant wattage consumption of a pre lci turn bulb...
