(COLD AIR).. makes sence... im not sure how cold it will get on the west coast.. but on a cold morning say if it gets this cold by u around 30 to 40f.. try it.. you will fell it.. when you get to that 5,000 rpm and say 4th gear usally this is where the drag starts, in hot weather.. but in the cold weather its very different.... try it.. ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Here's my take on this ... you may think that due to the cold weather your AFE intake is taking in colder air. While that may be true, there's still the hot air from the engine bay. Granted that there are a few differences between the I6 and V8 AFE models, there's still the chance of mixture of air temperature under the hood. With the stock box + RPI scoop, you're working with forced induction. Now, with the colder weather just around the corner, think of the cold air being forced into your air box. Add a BMC filter (if they'll ever get here
) and you're golden.

Easy! if you live in cold climate zones specially north zones. Do it: (if you are currently using Stock box, before you install the AFE) Research how the car run, feel it, write down etc with the stock... then put the AFE (you have to drive it about 50-100 miles letting the computer calibrates it... then compare and notice the differences between it and the stock (I bet you under the hood the AFE is very much cooler).
It is just your choice regardless the lose/gains HP. To me, it is very personal taste. You can reinstall the stock if you don't like it and donate it to someone else.
As I said before I think the AFE won't work for Southern zones (CA, TX, FL etc...) and Tropical zones? forget it!. Sorry southern guys, you can donate it or throw it away.

Thank you for your justification for purchasing the AFE CAI.
