Don't punish the vendor, punish the manufacturer.

AFE lied to their vendors and their customers, well they lied as of what we know now, and they haven't done or said anything to change that.

Yes, this is true. But this is almost like a zero sum game... Manufacturer lies to vendor and customer, they make money. Vendor acts as an (unknowing) agent, makes money. Customer gets shafted, ends up with bunk product and loses out on money. Punishing the vendor is bad.... punishing the customer is worse. Since this is community, and the vendor has done the right thing immediately (contacting the manufacturer and taking the item off their site), Vendor and Customer can work together to get a resolution from the Manufacturer.

I say do NOT do a dispute. Shafting one another while the Manufacturer laughs all the way to the bank is not the solution.

Thank you.

I have emailed them and left messages to respond to the thread, but no answer. Also, for the RPI vs AFE ///M's they haven't responded to that as well. I will keep my products off my website!

The manufacturer should be the one paying, not the vendors. Be patient people, this will get sorted out...
Someone should go talk to AFE in person and see what they have to say... (of course someone who lives nearby ) Would contacting the BBB do anything, help? AFE makeing false claims, selling a fraudlent product, poor customer service so forth...

Oh I have. My sales guy, one of the head guys, and the R&D specialist all came out to greet me. This was on Monday and they were pissed I took off all their products and that I didn't give them a chance to respond. I sent them emails and voicemails with no calls so I drove up there (15 - 20 miles). Pretty much they were saying that RPI is another competitor and they have seen this before. He said that the dyno results will always vary, but that they GUARANTEE the products make power. ANYWAYS...the head guy of AFE Nick said that the BEST way is to get RPI's ///M5 and AFE's ///M5 and have a run....GUARANTEED that the AFE will beat it against the stock RPI with scoops/BMC filter. I have tried to set up the race and NOTHING from them.

AFE WHERE ARE YOU!?

I was there the day of the aFe dyno on the M5 at RPI. I was one of two cars being dyno'd that particular day. Believe me, with over 18-25 guys watching closely... and another independent guy from another shop (another dyno operator) looking on (he doesn't even own a BMW, IIRC), nothing was fishy about the test. Car was left on the dyno while they did the intake swap. This type of setup has already been done with the K&N Typhoons a while back... it showed a major loss. So what makes the aFe setup any different? The heat shielding had huge enough gaps in it that it was pointless to even put them in, but they did anyway. If I am missing something regarding the major diff b/t Typhoons and aFe's CAI, AFE Rep, please chime in. And please also correct me, because I really don't see why this is called a Cold Air Intake. ASR Engineering's setup, with filters on the outside of the engine bay, behind the kidney grills and aft of the radiator, is a Cold Air Intake. RPI's is a Ram Air Intake... I just can't connect the dots on this one. Again... I am not flaming... just can't make sense of this.

Seeing the distrought look on a fellow members face after the results kind of made us all feel cheated. He paid for the intakes, he paid for the install and dyno runs. He paid to have Dinan gut the aFe's and bought another brand. Our member even drove the car around for a week until he could not stand it anymore and paid Dinan a visit. Yes, he was an RPI scoops/BMC filter guy pre-aFe... and my best guess of why he went Dinan is because no one wants to throw away money just to get back to where he/she was. He wanted something different after this ordeal instead of just taking the shaft and going back the way he was. Humans are creatures like this.

Running a "stock" E60 with BMC/Scoops/Charcoal Delete against a aFe only E60 on the highway can prove something, but leaves many more questions in its wake. Production variances between motors, driver skill, is-that-car-really-stock (ECU/Pulley/3.91 Diff... etc) can come into question. With that being said... my money is on the Ram Air Setup [with the weaker motor and bad driver]. Better yet... my money is on the total stocker with Charcoal Delete. If we can verify both test mules from something like respected board members, I'll wager a lil something on it... where it is legal to wager, of course...

Horrible. This is why I love this forum. I can see what has happened to other people and not make the same mistake. I am sure you can all get refunds. They are going to end up discontinuing these P.O.S....I see Trinity has stopped selling them too.
