I am sure they have done very extensive wind tunnel testing on the M5.
The spoilers of the M-kit are meant to increase downforce.
With the M-kit's suspension, the car will also have a lower center of gravity. The lower the car to the ground, the more stable I expect to be at higher speed. No coincidence that race cars are built the way they are.
The positive thing about the M-kit is that I expect less impact from side winds on the E60 (mainly because a lower center of gravity), something that some people on this board have been complaining about.

I have not experienced this myself yet, as I am still waiting for my E60 with M-kit.

I've not noticed any difference in the driving characteristics between the two to be honest. I do prefer the look of the sport pack although the SE still looks great with 124 wheels

Why are there no fog lights on the M5 Must be an option

I also like the looks of the M-kit, but if you would fully test gravitational and adhesive forces (like BMW does), I am sure you would find out differences.

But that's not recommended, and it's also not the reason why I went for the sport pack. I have heard some people comment that when making sharp turns, they notice the difference. (stiffer suspension on the sport pack)

I have read that they had to drop them because they needed extra air intake for the engine and brakes.
