I have replaced the BTA1500 microphone with another one without any luck. It turns out that the best place to install the microphone is the sun visor. Since I don't like this I'll try the BMW microphone and see how this performs.
The only "problem" with BTA1500 is that the signal strength is not shown on i-drive display. Next to the aerial symbol I always have this _ _ _ _. I'm not sure if this is a limitation of BTA1500 or a problem with my phone (I'm currently using i-Phone 2G).

Both of those systems required mp3 capable system in order to be able to browse your ipod content.
Actually the mObridge system works fine without needing the MP3 enabled to browse. It is limited of course due to no text but it still works fine.

cheers,

What about bluetooth? Are there any limitations?

Nope. Its is exactly like the factory system. We use the Parrot technology so phone compatibility is assured and we also use a Parrot dual beam forming microphone for the audio so again the audio is very good. I've had one in my E90 for about 9 months now with our other car being an E60 and both are running great.

cheers,

Below are some pictures of BTA1500 in action. As always I was too lazy to take pictures with my digital camera and I used my iphone

The Calls not accepted list

I didn't have a second phone with me today to take pictures of i-drive screen during call, so I'm attaching some old ones I took before the car was encoded for bluetooth (yeap, I was able to received calls but I wasn't able to initiate calls using i-drive), since are essentially the same.

Incoming call

During call

Notice that the signal strength next to the aerial symbol is not shown any more. This happens today after I installed firmware v2.13. With previous firmware (v2.11), signal strength was always shown as "_ _ _ _ _". Dension's support sent me the new firmware that was suppose to solve the problem but instead, no signal strength is shown any more. I will contact them again. Also in Calls Accepted & Calls not Accepted lists, next to the name or number (see pictures above) I get 1-8.08.00. I'm not sure what I supposed to get there (time, date, call duration ???) but with previous firmware this was always 00.00.00. I'm very please with BTA1500 considering that it only costs €100 and provides almost identical functionality to OEM bluetooth module.

Did you already have a TCU installed?
The bluetooth on my TCU seems to be a bit cranky and isn't working properly, so i would like to use a BTA1500 as a replacement bluetooth receiver (i've already got the gateway).
However, the voice recognition and SOS functions all run thru the TCU, so i don't want to rip out that one.

I have a E60 520D 11/2005 with an ASK head unit and would really like mp3 text on the idrive screen. Dension say their product will not support this with an ASK head unit, however on the compatability list on the Mobridge site it says that mp3 text should work on both the ASK and CCC head units for the E60 (see http://www.mobridge-ipod.co.uk/docs/mObrid...tion_Guide.pdf). Can anyone confirm this is the case?
