Great find! The location in the glove box probably means it might be an I Drive compliant version of the the official Ipod your BMW, that would be great!
This adapter was available for non I Drive cars and is located in the glove box, fingers crossed it might be the same things for the E60! How neat would it be to have track info displayed on the I Drive screen

I also sent that .pdf to my dealer and just got back receipt that they have read it. Now just have to wait answer.
At the moment I use FM modulator in atenna line. I cut the line and installed RF-connectors. Sound is good but alternator whine comes through, maybe has to put battery power source or capasitor to power line. IF this aux in comes reality FM modulator... well it will be history.

If the aux. output can be routed to the glove compartment, can it ge routed to the little storage compartment below the CD player for the non-Nav owners?

OK - I sent the PDF and all the part numbers to my dealer. His reply was that the part is NOT AVAILABLE to US Dealerships. In fact he said it WILL NOT WORK with US-designated stereo systems.
I think he's full of bunk, but really want to know if any other US customer (any of you??) have had luck with this part install....

skaffa,
For alternator whine, you may want to check your systems grounding to make sure it is a good solid ground and that there is little to no resistance between that ground and the battery ground.

All,
If everything workjs out fine the aux input will be installed tomorrow in my car, goal is to use with Apple Ipod.
From what they can tell me sofar, I'll be able to connect via the headset out of my Ipod and be able to select AUX in my Idrive to play the music I select on my Ipod.
I don't mind the connector to be in the glovedepartment, I can always put a longer cable to somewhere else. My main 'frustation' will be the charging of the batteries in the Ipod.
If the piece arrives tomorrow morning (as planned) it will be installed tomorrow.
Pricing;
50? for the kit + 1-2 hours work.
Cheers
G.
