Yeah, FM modulator especially sucks in big cities, like I am in. Even cassette adapter sounds better. But my new-car-to-be doesnt even have the cassette player, so i'm hoping that this aux input is for reals! *crossing fingers*

I hope option will be available soon. I'm dying here, trying to figure out if that AUX input can be split. I would like to add SIRIUS AND my IPOD.
FM modulator sound quality for IPOD (and i assume for Sirius as well) is not good. I use it because i don't have a choice but if I can hardwire it in, that would be awesome.

I have seen that headphone jacks for the rear in pics and thought they are part of the rear entertainment package...

Option 678 was in the pricelist from the very beginning in 2003, certainly in the swedish and perhaps even in the british optionlist for the E60 salooncar.
Nowadays you have to ask for it because they doesn?t put every option in the list.
Regards!

I guess I should just ask the dealer directly? Can't really find any info about it on the website.

Hello gang,
Looking through another forum I came across an interesting document
that may be a way around to have an aux. output.
The pdf document looks like an official BMW intern instruction how to
effectuate the job -
This could be a good gate to put the Ipod (or else) the only restriction
is that I couldnt see anything to feed the ipod with electricity , but I may
be wrong there
Andr?

Hello
I had a friend translate part of this document. He came up with:
The part number is 65120153502; the installation document (the PDF) is EBA Nr. 01290395827. There also seems to be a number for the "kit"
which is the collection of required parts: 061 0115 Z.
The connector is #X13813; it goes into socket X13812 into the BMW sound
system. It takes about an an hour to install, but they clearly say it should be done by BMW service people. The instructions also refer to a number of softwaretests
that should be run during the installation-routine.
Hope this is of use.
