The most dealers are just too lazy. They have a special hotline at BMW Munich they can ask ALL questions they have... and they get an answer...

Some day I walk in to dealer's with outlook of "not so perfect" and bag full of money. He who serve me best will get big fat bonus. Let's see then how others react!

Late 40's and 50's to buy a car in Finland people need to get permit from government and then humbly go to dealer's. Some think that those days are here again. Couple years back it was nice to go in because car sales were really poor. How it's in US today. It seems in news that manufacturers are in deep sh***, how about dealers?

Hey guys to avoid all discussion. It does work, I've had it installed last week.

And make sure you don't get ripped-off. The piece cost in Belgium 49,75 ecl VAT. I've witnessed the installation and actually it's a piece of cake. Stripping the car installing the cable on both ends and re-assambling the car takes max 1. hour. If they put everything in correctly, you just have to wait another 30-60 minutes for the computer to reconfigure the software and that's it. The document describing the piece, mentions and installation time of 1,5 hour.

I can confirm that the installation takes about 1 hour. Then there is the software part, where my dealer reloaded/upgraded the entire software to version 13.3. That took like 4 hours. After having done that they discovered that the AUX feature didn?t work and called me. They said they have to reload all the sofware again, without the AUX feature activated, which took another 4 hours. When I picket up the car they said they have to wait for the next SW version to have it working. I took the car, didn?t pay anything, since they didn?t solve the AUX feauture and drove avay.

But guess what, when I looked in the meny, the AUX feature was there... I connected my iPod and it worked just swell! So we?ll se if the dealer will get back to me to upgrade the software... which now is not needed. If they do not I?ve done a bargain.

Here's what i come up with.

5 series Sedan from 9/02 production on. Vehicles WITHOUT nav must have single in dash CD, NOT CASSETTE.

Aux Input Kit 82 11 0 149 390
Install Kit with nav 82 11 0 149 391
Install kit w/o nav 82 11 0 149 389

Calls for radio removal and glove box removal. half hour labor time. From what Im reading, it doesnt call for reprogram. Says after the install is complete, push the MODE button until AUX appears.

Doesnt matter if you have nav. Just that you have a single cd player in the dash and NOT a cassette. How many of you actually got the cassette player???????
