Attempted to do a M5 mirror install today but ran into a problem

On the post - Sep 05 mirrros you have to get into the mirror and cut the two yellow wires that go from the mirror's ECU to the auto-fold mirror. Bring these wires outside the mirror and then connect the power to it via a switch or circuit.

Pre-Sep 2005 don't even need to cut any wires because they are already separated out side the mirror into various plugs. All you need is a circuit to activate those mirrors.

OK, so connect to any std +12V on the car? You said 2 yellow wires I assume one will fold it & the other un-fold it, right? Are those yellow wire require any resistor or anything? Just worry on the amperage.

PS: Will be tricky to bring both wires from the door into the cabin.

Now you just need a clever switch in the cabin theres an extra space by the sunroof or maybe you could wire it to the door locks everytime you lock and unlock

Get the OE window switch panel with the fold button already built in. I bet some of the euro guys know where to get some cheap used ones.

The switch panel is completely useless if you cannot get the car programmed. You cannot even access the switch contacts without completely hacking the board and the switch enclosure.
If you want a cheap way of going this just buy a toggle switch with centre OFF. As mentioned earlier, get the two wires for the motor out of the mirror and into the car. Then wire the two motors in reverse polarity on the switch and supply 12V and Ground to the middle contacts of the switch. Install the switch somewhere and then flick it to fold and flick it down to unfold - SIMPLE.
