i contacted abd racing for a quote on a vf engineering s/c installed on my 996 c2. was quoted 10,000 out the door. seems like a great deal. the porsche install includes extra radiator and piping to the front of the car. definately a much more intensive install than a front engine/rear drive 550. so, i can't imagine it installed it could be much more than 10,000.
i think the one thing that vf should really consider is a carb eo # for the s/c. that would really make it a winner!

The published price for the S/C on their website is $9000. I asked how much would they charge for install? $1500 or so.

When I was there at VFE on 1/4/07, I mentioned about the possibility of a group buy. They will not discount the S/C for a group buy but will accommodate the group in some other way. I forgot the specifics. I'll contact them again what they are willing to do.

With a such upgrade you would definitely need to upgrade to the bigger brakes and probably wheels( to accommodate bigger brakes) plus tires. Add a body kit and you are in M5 territory( warranty included). Why bother?

Warranty is not an issue with the VFE S/C, at least not in Socal. There are Socal BMW dealership installing the VFE S/C into cars i.e. e46 M3s. In LA there are at least 4 dealerships who will not void the warranty b/c of the VFE S/C.
In case I haven't already mentioned it, VFE is coming out with S/C for 530i model as well.

On the other hand, VFE does offer a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty on their part.
