The only problem with remapping is when your car goes in for service or it breakes down and it's an engine problem BMW will pick up the remap on their diagnostic equipment, bang goes your warranty. With a tuning box it only takes 10 min's to remove and is undetectable, there is no remapping to your chip.Plus it is a cheaper option for the same results.

JohanDC, it would be way too difficult for me to go to Belgium by car.. it?s a very long trip (altough comfort seats help )... For the Portuguese in here, I found a company in Portugal which tunes up the car, reducing it?s consumption.. I still have to verify if they have anything for the E60..

I couldn't resist and did the upgrade. I had it done last friday and the result is 215hp and 440Nm of torque, not bad for a small diesel engine I would say. These numbers were measure on a dyno and the guy who did the upgrade told me that they had difficulties measuring the torque since I drive a steptronic, so most likely the torque should be something around 460-480Nm, nice!

So far I am pretty happy with the upgrade as the power increase is really noticeable. When flooring the pedal the car pulls away with so much power, the difference is like night and day. I really get that feeling back as I had with my 330Cic when taking off at a traffic light and flooring it! Such a nice feeling! The only small downside so far is that some small vibrations are present when the engine is cold and idleling. I noticed these vibrations before but they are just a small bit better noticeable now, I guess that this is the price I have to pay for the extra hp's? Anyway I really like my car even more now so I would recommend it to all E60 diesel drivers.

In Portugal you only can get the ACS chip.
It's the only one safe and with warranty.
Ask jmcaiado he will confirm you that.

I read somewhere recently that BMW has now no longer endorsed ACS chip upgrade and the warranty will now be provided directly from ACS. But this will not affect those who upgraded before the change came about.
