Will take my E60 in for the first service next Tuesday.

Have arranged a test drive for a E90 325xiA.

Now when it's cold and really snowy, it will be really interesting.

Have not driven a 4WD since some 4-5 years ago in the summer with a 325iXA E46.

(Note the model markings!)
Well, check your car right after service. Mine had 35k (first) service last month with some problems. HUD lost guidance data input and address book was multipled five time - so I had a book with five lines of each address! Also, iPod installation failed since there were only three E60s in Finland that had this latest, 4. gen. iPod installation ordered. BMW Finland had no clue how to solve the problems with some weird SW issue, two other cars in Helsinki waited also more info from Germany. After five weeks waiting, I called the service and still no further installation info was received. The service wanted to try again and I finally got my car with fully working 80 GB iPod last friday. So, after all, all fine, but it wasn't an easy service...

Down to xDrive, my car has it and the E90 318i I got for from Avis during the service was an ordinary RWD. After driving this winter with 4WD, coming back to ordinary car was interesting. I had to drive again carefully and take a new approach like with my previous cars. With xDrive I just steer the wheel and the car goes like a tank, but 318i was from another world...nothing to compare with xDrive. During the last days I have test driven my car on highways with left side of my car in 15-20 cm snow and right side on hard asphalt. None single problem in control or performance has appeared up to speed of 140-150 km/h. Try that on ordinary car and you can see the result...

Please report what think of test car. I haven't driven an ordinary E60 in snow, so a direct comparison may be difficult with 318i and my own car.

Hi there cmansbimmer, I read the Forum every day. I rarely post as I don't own an E60, I have a Volvo. I came across the Forum from a review in BMW car Magazine. I guess my main reason for joining was to find out more of the technical details of the cars, as that is something that interests me and, I am glad to say, we get plenty of.

Cheers, Stewart.
