why choose the e60 over the 3 or 1 series?

I was going to literally buy a 335i earlier this year... it was my DREAM CAR. 2008 CPO Coupe Stick shift Montego blue only 19k miles. I was at the dealer with my down payment. I drove the 335i for a couple of spins and it was everything I expected. But a 550i in the lot caught my eye and I wanted to drive that one really quick before I bought the 335, I always wanted to test drive one of those babies. Anyway after driving the 550, the 335 just didn't seem all that comfortable and the torque of the 550 was unbelievable, plus with a wife and 3 kids, my entire family can enjoy the car with me. So I drove home with the 550!

Same story here...
I'm 6'3" and I used to have an e90. It was great, and lots of fun! However the 5 did just feel like it fit me better. I am single with no kids, but the extra room is still great. The trunk is much better when dealing with golf bags and other big things I may need to transport. I also like the look a lot better then the 3. Even after looking at the newer cars available on the market nothing excites me more then getting a pre-owned LCI 550i as my next car. When you want your next car to look virtually the same as the current one you own I'd say you found the right car... =D

My Ride: 2008 bmw 550i/ 20" Work vs xx/ h & r coilovers.
came from an e93. The only thing i really miss was the convertible. I did miss the way the twin turbos drove at first but the v8 grew more on me. i learned to appreciate top-end more. and yeah, loads more comfy. my bike fits in the trunk with the front wheel taken off. Best seats hand down

My Ride: E60 550i
simply put (3 + 7) /2 = 5.............the 5 series is best of both worlds, still sporty and yet elegant and you get the taste of luxury, all wrapped in one car and not to mention i needed the space....try fitting a stroller in a 3 series

I had a 330i, then a 335i, both 6-speed sedans. Of course moving into the turbo in the 335i made the car much more fun to drive from just a pure speed point of view. I did enjoy both cars very much and never regretted my decision on either. However, when my lease was up on my 335i I knew I was ready for a change. I spent about 6 months window shopping and looked and drove several cars, suvs, different makes ect ect. Ultimately I always ended up back at the BMW dealer and knew I would be getting another BMW. I was close to ordering a 2011 335i loaded out when BMW came out with their May incentives on the outgoing E60 5 series. Long story short I got a loaded out 2010 535i M Sport for not much more then what a 2011 335i would have cost. I have had the car 3 months now and have never looked back. While the car shares the same engine as my 335i there is nothing else about this car that is remotely the same as the 3 series. The interior size on this car is much better especially rear seat room. I have already taken this car to the East coast on vacation and it was pure pleasure to drive. While it did take some getting used to the Sport Automatic vs the 6-speed I had in my prior cars I am enjoying it now. Gas mileage is pretty close compared to my 335i as well.

My Ride: BMW

LOL! Damn giants! I'm 5'3" LOL! and yes the 3 series is too small for me I used to like the 3 (still do as a performance aspect), but I never really felt comfortable in one. I got in a 5 one day and it totally changed my mind.

I bought my daughter the 5 series for college, not the 3; she had that in high school. Wife is also in a e60. My youngest son just got his learner's permit and the 335 would suit him, if I can talk him out of the Dodge Challenger...
BTW, I drive a truck; but when home my Suburban is my ride.
The E 60 IMHO will live long after the model is past; the right combination of style, class, sporty handling, etc will cause the E60 to be loved over newer/more complex models.
