I purchased from Essex BMW, and my salesperson is quite experienced. He spoke with his person at VPC today, who advised him of this info. I generally trust what he is telling me, to the extent that I really don't trust anyone! That being said, he has sold to me before, he knows I am a source of business, and he knows I'm anxiously awaiting this car, so I don't see a reason for him to b.s. me. He also tells me that he has others awaiting delivery, and nobody has theirs yet.

Perhaps you are right about the 550 issue, but I would think that all new MY08s would need approval. Maybe the 550s just pass more quickly than the others and have been released??

Either way, I still don't have my fu@#$&* car!!!!
that is atleast 2-week delay, My car was at SC on Mar. 31, Supposed to be at dealer and picked up last week(by sat.)
Does EPA do checks on all new autos including domestics?
Anyway latest information about tint:
1) Johnson window films started making INSULATIR- ceramic which is as good as Huperoptik
2) one can have transparent/clear on WHOLE WINDSHIELD film to block UV and Infra-red rays(solar gard-Ultimate is best).

You might want to show this to your dealer then. Here's some pictures that were posted of an '08 550i at Irvine BMW in CA. I did an inventory search, and this car is listed on their web site as in inventory for $69,645 (stock number C22167, VIN WBANW53548CT48108).

Great. Thanks. I'll try to find out if I'm being absolutely bullshitted or if for some reason the 550s are slipping through more easily...

My dealer tells me that he has no answer to the CA issue. He tells me that there are different standards for emissions in CA, more strict. He is guessing (and I stress guessing) that maybe the EPA people are more efficient out there, and were able to clear the CA 5s more quickly. I know he wants to get this car to me ASAP, and I know it's sitting at VPC, so I tend to believe him when he tells me that there are delays outside of his control. I hate patience.

He's not getting paid until you take delivery. It is in his best interest to get the car to you asap.

I am one of the more skeptical people out there, and I believe the guy that the matter is out of his hands. Also, the EPA issue came up in this forum before he even mentioned it, and so it's not like he pulled it out of his . On to next week we go.....................

I'm in the same situation. My car is at the Spartanburg VPC. It arrived there yesterday.

Waiting is not easy. Having to extend that wait is even harder.

Good luck.

Looks like Titanium Silver to me.

I am sure it is Space gray. Titanium silver is replaced by Platinum grey.
On this site > Go to E61 discussion > Click-Pictures of my new E-61 (very nice Platinum Gray with Brown leather pics)
