Understood. However, even if it still snowed every winter as much as it did when we were kids, I still wouldnt let that dictate what car I drive all year round. We would still only be talking about a handful of days out of the year.

All the best

Don't let the location in my profile fool ya - its where I'm at now, not where I come from
So where in Germany are you now?

You asked me that once before. I currently live near Stuttgart.

You're correct in that it does not snow as much as before, I remember we used to get two feet sometimes. Back then I was young and single with no one relying upon me to get them from preschool or aftercare. I didn't have clients that I still had to meet. I never got the XI versions but I did swap out my Dunlops for All Season Bridgestones this year. I did get stuck in a snow storm here that only lasted a day before the streets were clear and sunny, but I had to leave the car on the side of the road overnight.

pennetta, I'm surprised you're running all seasons throughout the year. You seem to be very performance oriented considering the mods you've done to your car. Im sure I dont have to tell you the advantage in running a summer tire in the warmer months as opposed to all seasons. You're probably not capturing all of the performance your software has given you with your Bridgestones.

All the best

You are correct and I probably will put the summer rubber back on inspite of saying I won't now. I hate rim nicks/scratches and the more you mount and dismount the likelyhood of someone screwing up is greatly multiplied. The All Seasons I got are Bridgestone Pole Position AS 960, Ultra High Performance as per Tirerack. The stock Bridgestone are Max Performance and the stock Dunlops are Ultra High performance.
Anyway you are still correct.

I?m presuming upstate New York because xDrive is definitely not needed for the NYC area.
We're in Brooklyn Heights (DUMBO for those who know the area). We do get snow and I do like to drive up to go skiing. Upstate gets a constant coating. Regular and usually frozen even if not deep.

No X5 for me!!! Don't like it, never did. Test drove it 2 years ago, yes it drives really well but I really dont like its' look. Half of Lawn-Gai-Land has one the other half has the Range Rover Sport and the M350.

The wagon is very, very rare and thats how I like it. Had a 525iT 5 speed, & sport package 2 years ago and still regret not buying it off of the lease. My accountant stopped me. This one I'm keeping (unless the F10/F11 is really, really dope!)

No one is questioning the 535 is a better value, I personally think its a better car. If my car was up on lease today and I was offered a 550 for the SAME price as a 535 Dinan Software car, I would still make the same choice as I did 6 months ago and get the 535. To me they all handle well with the sport package and I have an advantage if a competition was driving through a road course because I have done road track racing and am therefore more experience than the normal guy. But when the light turns green, and you both stomp the gas pedal, its all about the hp & torque (yes there is launching techniques, and shifting preferences) and I need the car to contribute that.
So many posts... Trying to justify your purchase and better value? I am sure $50 Timex watch is a better value than $5000 Panerai or Breitling. It probably even keeps timing beter

Great analogy; you're another label guy. I am not saying the 535 is a better value (though many here say that), I'm saying that for me its a better car. The 535 offers scalability where you can download software, still be covered by a 4yr/50k mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and have the highest performing 5 series ever, short of only the mighty "M".
I do feel your pain though; I own a Rolex, Breitling and a solid gold Buchere and Movado, but when I am timing something with the stopwatch, I use whats better, my Casio.
