So, if you want to save a few bucks or can not afford the 550i, the 535 is great car. Or being more polite to avoid hurting feelings, we recommend the 535i to anyone looking for sport sedan that?s not only a blast to drive, but well worth the money.
Consider whats behind door number 3:
You can afford a more expensive car but you like the scalability of the 535, whereas you are also an early adopter and are not afraid of technology. Where you can download software and have the best performing 5 series ever, short of the mighty "M".
We think to those that merely have enough money, feel free to enjoy the 550.

Living in New York, my priority was all wheel drive and the 535 is the only car in the field that offers that.
I did look at the S6 very seriously but Audi needs to get their act together.
If the M5 or the 550 came with an X attached ....... I also like the whole wagon thing, cuts back on the snobbish German sedan factor drasticly and allows room for a dog.

I?m presuming upstate New York because xDrive is definitely not needed for the NYC area.

pukka, you really telling a NY'er about NY weather? We've gotten no snow this year and it seems to be less and less every year. I certainly wouldnt base the decision of what car to drive on the possibility of a snowfall 1 or 2 times in the year.

Not true - NYC does get the occasional snow dump. You only have to drive north of the Bronx to be "upstate".

I was born, grew up, and lived in Brooklyn for 18 years.
Hung out on 42nd Street when it was called THE DEUCE
Watched the Jets when they played at SHEA STADIUM
Graduated from Midwood H.S..
Although NYC hasn't gotten much snow the last few years - IT CERTAINLY CAN GET IT. And it gets progressivly worse for those who commute to L.I. and Westchester, which I suspect many of you do. So when someone else says there is NO need for AWD in the city - it seems to me that they haven't spent as much time being a NY'er as I have.
Don't let the location in my profile fool ya - its where I'm at now, not where I come from
