Start-Stop is one the best things as it does not require to search for the key or take out for opening the door
does not get drop accidentally in wrong place, does not amke noise/scratch the area behind the steering wheel,
What are you talking about.... Just the opposite is true. If you do not remove the "key" it will sound a chime forever until it is removed. Which, unless you can live with that...requires that you remove the "key". So, when I leave my car parked in my garage, I have to remove the key, find a place to lay it, that will be easy to find when I get back in the car to drive it. Which then requires that I put the key back into the slot. There are certainly worse things in life for sure...but when you say that the start/stop button is good because it allows you to leave the key in the ignition...when in fact you can NOT leave the key in the ignition without listening to the chime, I had to speak up.

As you can tell, not being able to leave the key in the ignition is one of my biggest complaints...along with ALL the doors not unlocking when I open the drivers door.

Easily remedied through iDrive.

My wife never leaves the damn nobs alone, she is fiddling with the radio station, CD stacker selection, volume.
I wish there was a way to disable passenger involvement of settings.

...
There is. It's called the "Right turn, Clyde." method. Use with discretion and prudence, but don't be afraid to use it liberally when necessary!

Perhaps there should be a list of alarms that you can select where you see them (centre screen, between the instruments, on the HUD, with/without a bong).

I would like a silent notification when the auto lights turn on and off.
Yes! its impossible to tell if the lights are on!

Yes! we need an idrive option to disable most of the warning BONGS for people living outside USA (as far as I have tested US cars they all go Bong like crazy so people must be used to it)

lets hope BMW looks at forums like this and takes notice .... erm just dreaming.....

I don't think so...I know you can configure if "all or drivers door only" open via FOB button. And I know of no confguration that disables the chiming when the key is left in the ignition/slot...if there is a way, please do tell.

There's not one for the chimes. I was referring to all the doors unlocking at once. Sorry.

Mine can be disabled by putting my seatbelt on.

I hate that plastic trim piece around the shift boot. Makes the center console look cheap.

After all the design and engineering to produce the sportiest sports sedan, BMW puts too small a limit on the distance that the steering wheel telescopes, which in my case (6'6") prevents me from achieving an ideal driving position (as I had with my previous 740i sport). I have comfort seats not sport seats, but I think the problem is the steering wheel adjustability in relation to the dashboard.
