About 80 k on my 545i

Replaced:

-front control arms
-steering coulumn (was making noise when going up and down)
-minor things like: spark plugs, filters, door and sunroof seals, parking light etc.

Dropping the car off on Tuesday to replace:
-vacuum pump (leaking oil)
-hood shocks (hood won't strongly stay open)
may be the trunk strut (trunk is bouncing when open)

So far that's all.

I hear a lot of people replacing Thermostats and Pressure Regulating Valves. Should i do it as prevention service? I don't have any codes or anything but looks like it is a common thing being replaced

08 550i with +48,000 miles

The most troubling replacement was the rear anti-roll bar bracket. It's only a small, inexpensive (15 euro) metal piece that holds a bushing up against the car but with the active roll stabilization the roll bar would move quite a bit. The dealer said it might have had to do with my muffler install but I didn't buy that. I still had to pay for the repair.

Oh... and tires!! I'm on my third set!

OK.. but how big is the leak in the dynamic stabilizer bar? Mine is leaking a bit too... Not wet, but "sweating" ;-)
I just added more fluid and all works good for right now. I will need to replace it in some time, but I hope it will last a bit more... Try to do the same thing...

What about the cooling? Did you find the leak?
Ok so last week I fixed the issues.

1. Coolant leak was the coolant reservoir that was cracked.
2. The Dynamic Drive Malfunction was the sensor that was bad. It is not fixed.
3. The stabilizer bar. As far as the leak goes, it was not the reason why the dynamic drive malfunction was on. The leak according to the dealer is very minute. The BMW dealer didn't even pick up on it. I also never saw one drip on the driveway nor did i ever add any power steering fluid in to the reservoir tank.

IMO the leak is not a big deal unless you dont like the oil in the driveway or constantly putting fluid in the reservoir. In construction i have seen many machines that leaked hydraulic fluid and it never stopped the machine from operating.

The design of the active stabilizer bar is in theory same technology used in these construction machines so i'm not worried about it.

But if you feel like spending the $1400 be my guest and replace it.

I wouldn't say that I religously keep up on my tire pressure, but I would check it at least once a month to make sure it was good... Between the fairly rough highways in Arizona for 11 months and then all the autobahn miles I don't think I'm doing tooooo bad. Not that I like dropping $1200 for tires, I just figure that's what I have to do!

Would these items be covered under extended warranty?

Mine is in the shop now for the master cylinder, brake booster, and vacuum pump. 52,000miles. Quoted $2500, extended warranty paying $1500 plus car rental. Thinking of going back to my Toyota!! Or at least a Lexus.

Is it authorized BMW shop? Do you have leaks from master cylinder or vacuum pump? Brake booster and vacuum pipe are very common, but master cylinder and vacuum pump is a different story... What was your problem with brakes?
