For the love of GOD why do we have another octane/gas thread??? Guys, how about we start encouraging members to use the search function instead of spoon feeding them?

I use 91 because thats the highest I can get around here. But it works for me. I have an '04 530i. I use either Shell, 76, or Cheveron.

I used BP for a long time but stopped, my SA told me that BP has 10% ethanol, so I now use Citgo (SA recommended). By the way I use 93 octane

NY, CT, RI, MA only have 10% ethanol blend fuel - E10 - No choice here so unless BMW bands selling cars in those states there's no way they can say there is an issue with having 10% ethanol fuel. Now if I had a choice of buying non E10 I would. 10% ethanol gives you a lower mpg and causes a number of other issues.

The engine doesn't get impacted a whole lot by the ethanol, but the fuel pump and fuel lines get eaten up by the ethanol.
