My Ride: Gone Waiting
[quote name='stanatl' date='Mar 28 2007, 07:01 AM' post='407914']
Heard back from the Service Manager at my dealership and he told me that they just recieved BV.25.0 and as of last night were waiting for one more on-line update to complete the download. He copied a statement from from BMW which is:
"With the introduction of March 2007 produced vehicles, enhancements have been made to the CID over previous model year vehicles. These enhancements include color and functional changes which improve functionality and give the CID a more appealing look. If a pre-3/07 production vehicle is programmed using Progman V25.00.00 or higher, the Head Unit (CCC, MASK, etc) will be updated with new operating software (see attachment) and this will result in changes to the color and functionality of the CID."
He also attached a PDF file showing some of the changes which I am attaching. It shows the changes for pre and post March 2007 build cars. It appears that the biggest differences in appearance will be see by those who own cars that are pre March 2007 build.
Attachment 30043

With so little image enhancements, I actually like the pervious version better.
I hope BMW will keep improve NAV settings.

The GUI has moved away from "1930s wood effect" into "21st C post modern" and the excess colour has been dolloped onto the nav maps.

I am not so sure about the upgrade now; if the list in the attached PDF is truly comprehensive, then I would not be bothered if I do not get an upgrade. My Sat Nav serves my needs 95% as it is and the BT pairs & works with my PDA Flawlessly and reliably. Moreover, I prefer the CD track display on the older version (it shows more information).
So unless there are other improvements, I am happy to keep V24.02

The appearance is not all that there is to V25. The iDrive performance (response time) is supposed to be significantly improved. I am having mine upgraded from V19.1 to V25 this week, I hope. It's in the shop now and they are working off my list of items which includes a valid complaint that would require V25. I will know more later today and will update you after I get the car back.

My car got the new update today. The best thing about the upgrade for me is the improved Nav functionality. You can now look up POI's by name now, FINALLY. Also when searching for a POI you can look at the address before choosing it which you could not do before. Also, the system does boot up faster and the controller works better when scrolling.

I had read that the LCI (and Progman 25??) would eliminate contoller force feedback on Nav equipped cars - can anyone confirm or deny?
If true, this may be reason enough to forego the upgrade. The color changes are perhaps another step backwards, and the 'boot up/response time' issue is still unclear. The proposed Nav improvements would be nice, but are not a big issue for me.
Oh well, good work stanatl, for securing this info from you dealer.
