My Ride: - '07 Bmw 530i - Titanium silver, Balck Interior, Fully loaded & M Sports package
- '02 Benz S600- Navy blue with Grey interior, short wheel base & fully loaded
Just picked up my '07 530i 3 weeks ago, absolutely love it! Got it in titanium silver, black interior, fully loaded (no nav, tv, adaptive cruise control or HUD offered in Egypt) with an M sports package.
Have to say I drove Benz mostly up to this point, owned an E240 to start, then an ML55 AMG and most recently an S600. My brother on the other hand has been a loyal BMW consumer since day 1 owning 6 different bimmers so far, he's the one who managed to convert me.
Have to say that driving a BMW is much more pleasurable than driving a Benz. Techonolgy and built quality are at near parity but compared to owning a 530i or an E350 I definately made the right choice by going Bimmer.
We have high import taxes on cars here in Egypt (up to 300%!!!!) so Bmw and Mercedes have started local assembly of some of their cars.
BMW assembles the 318, 320 and 325 as well as the 520, 525 & 530 here in Egypt. Built quailty is the same as germany (compared it to my brothers previous E39)
It still costs a whopping $125,000 to own a 530 here in Egypt though!
MB also assemble their C180, C200 and C230 locally as well as E200, E240, E280 and E350.
Both have announced their plans to assemble the MB S500 and BMW 750 in Egypt and delivery of first cars is due in September. MB announced a $210,000 price tag while Bimmer is still pending.

Hello hgabr and welcome to the Forum.
Did you send some pics already?
You should really not compare a S600 or a ML55 AMG to the E60.
760iAL would be comperable for the S600 and just wait for the
new X5 that will be introdced early next year.
But the E240 is comperable and will loose even to the 523i.
