Yesterday I got mine upgraded in order to eliminate the sppining of the CD after switching off the engine.
The new version has changed all the colours and the appearance of the menus (not big deal).
Have any of you notice, that with the new version, the streets in the navigator seems to be larger?.
I mean, even at the closest zoom level, I can hardly see some of the streets. It seems as they
have shifted the last zoom position and what it used to be a zoom of 200meters, now is 100m, so
everything is tiny.

You probably had an older than CIP 25 installed on your car, before this upgrade.
New maps menus and colors, came with CIP 25.

Never update something thats not broken... especially the E60... I'm very serious... I'm running like I picked the car with like V13 or 14 and upgraded to V16 to get the tranny fixed and then BMW updated it to V21 to meet some emissions requirement and now have no intention in updating... its flawless right now. Dealer called last night - my car is finally ready. It took them four days to update the software. I had reported the blower motor staying on once and while that is mentioned in the upgrade notes, there is an additional SIB on it (Cobradav how do I find out what that SIB is in terms of detail? It is SIB SI B64 01 06).
Also they mentioned that the main issue with the upgrade was that the system was saying that my iPOD interface had to be upgraded first (which of course threw them for a loop as I had installed that myself). Curious if there were some upgrades to that ?
One thing that also scares me is that while they were trying to get the upgrade to take, they were also trying to figure out why my CD player kept spinning with the key off. I told them "I think that is fixed with some sort of software upgrade - I saw something on the internet about it
" I was afraid they were going to start ripping the car apart.....

Common problem with DIY iPod installs where there was a 6CDC and dealer did not recode. Then when one of these cars comes in and an PROGMAN upgrade is going to take place the was/is will not match and will not let upgrade continue until fault/issue is cleared. Only way to prevent is to stick 6CDC back in before taking car in and then redo the iPod once upgraded OR what happened to you. Now that this is done it will be ok from now on. Did they make you pay for the recode? Many have had to.
And finally the level of knowledge in the shop, sigh. Not always the best. Some dealers have super sharp techs, but not so frequent across the dealer spectrum. Just like anything else it's a matter of attracting and RETAINING good personnel.

So there really is a recode you should do when you put in the IPod interface? Interesting.
No I don't think they made me pay for it - if it is just a clearing of a code, based on what they did not know about the CD Changer running on, something tells me it stumped them and they had to call BMW. I'll probably get yelled at - so I think I'm going to make my wife go get the car
