It definitely is new - the RON rating is 1 higher, and it seems to cause some initial idle roughness on cold starting in some cars, though this sorts itself out after a few seconds. I suspect it contains some ethanol.

If you are right (which I don't understand because you say the RON has increased by one) shouldn't it be called De-Power?

Maybe the initial rough running is the detergent giving the engine a good scrubbing?

I've never understood the use of detergents in such an environment.
