are halogen headlights the same as xeons? im wondering this because my sister is planning to purchase an Audi Q7, however, it states it has halogen high beams and low beams. but am i mistaken that halogen lights are what makes your light a tint of blue? and this is the lowest model im talking about. i got confused after seeing that the 3.6 Q7 w/ premium has bi-xeon headlights and the 3.6 Q7 without premium jus says halogen headlights

Halogens are the Group 17 elements (Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine and Astatine) but Xenon is one of the inert gases (Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon and Radon).

So Halogen headlights and Xenon headlights are not the same technology.

Halogen headlights have been around on road cars since the 70s and are the standard ones on most cars today. Xenon, or better yet Bi-Xenon, headlights give a whiter light that illuminates the road much better and for a further distance - on BMWs, the light is quite white, rather than blueish, though on some earlier and/or cheaper applications they can give a blueish twinkling effect.

No.

Tungsten headlights are yellow.

Halogen headlights are whiter and brighter.

Xenon headlights are brighter still and if you were to fit them yourself you can specify the colour (temperature). They vary in colour slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer but can range from blueish to yellowish. The best ones IMHO are those which provide a colour (temperature) of daylight (5500K).

Also... modern BMW xenons are quite white (4200K)... however as they bulbs age they become more blue (higher kelvin value) and lose light output (lumens).
