Default BMW e60 525d Throttle body

Hi all!

I am newly registered person here but I started to read this forum years ago, and thanks to this forum i found several solutions for my problems.

Right now I need your help because I tell the truth since now I had only Petrol cars, and now i bought my first diesel.

I noticed 1 month ago that my fuel consumption immediately went up to 10-11 liters/100km, I checked the throttle body and it was not working, so i changed and installed the new one, but i don't know it's working properly or not.

So that's why I ask for your kindly help!

1. When i start the car the throttle body opens i can see on the spring and the electronics hold it to stay open.
2. When i stop it's closes and than open.

So it moves but only when i start and stop the engine. I can't see any movement when the cars is idle or when i give some gas. I was not able to check it moves or not while i am driving the car since i am not able to look throught the hood

I read some threads about this "Throttle Adaptation Reset"
Key in, Start, pedal hold 35sec, start, than pedal release
I made it and the movement is the same.

My consumption changed to 8.5 from 11L but maybe because i was driving to slow while i was testing it.

I am looking forward for your helps

If I am doing the math correctly, 100km per 10L of fuel translates to 23.65 miles per gallon. That's not considered as horrible for city/mixed driving.

Check the tire pressure and make sure tires are inflated properly, air filter is clean, replace spark plugs and ignition coils depending on the number of miles on the car.

I think you replaced the throttlebody for no good reason. There is nothing wrong with the throttlebody on your car (the original one or the new one).

Hallo!

Thanks for the reply. The old throttle body was not good i tested from a battery and no movement the flaps not Turned. The new is working correctly if i see well. And i read somewhere on the forum when you stop the engine and the motor is shaking a bit than you have bad throttle body too. Since I changed the motor stops very smoothly.

I was right now in Niedelands 1000km and my consumption was 9.1 only on highway! When I was In Niedelands and I have to drive with 120km/h than the consumption was 8.3 than I reached Germany and 200km/h.

I will change in order everything what you said. And give you feedback.
