Transmission Fault
Hello all, I am new to these forums and somewhat new to BMWs altogether. Ive had my 2007 530i for about 3 years now and overall it has ran great. About 6 months ago the starter went out and was replaced. Shortly after that while driving on the freeway I received a warning stating there was a transmission fault and that acceleration would be limited and I should proceed with caution. I was able to pull over, turn off the engine and then restart without any issue. The car ran perfectly for a month or so until in a similar driving scenario the same alert appeared. I did the same course of action and restarted without any issue. This has happened several times since and every time once the car was restarted I did not have any issue. That was until yesterday when the same alert appeared, I turned the engine off then on and the alert immediately appeared again. I haven't driven it since, but I have frequently tried to test it by turning the car on, every time the alert appears. I have read that perhaps a tranny memory reset could help, but I wanted to check here to see if there is anything I can do without taking it in to the dealer.
Thanks for any/all help!
Adam

Trans sensors dont go off for no reason. You transmission was logging a serious error, turning off and on reset that but didn't solve the problem. Now the problem is bigger and its not going to go away with a simple reset. Get some codes pulled and see what the problem is.
