Got my car back today after two days with my dealer. TMC is working well on my Bus nav system with 2004-1 DVD. Very impressed with the system so far and the warning messages that come up with traffic delay/accident/road closure details.

I did notice some differences though - the Bus Nav screen that shows current position (longtitude and latitude) is now showing altitude in yards and not feet! I can't find anywhere to change this and have never heard of altitude being measured in yards .......' we are now flying at 10,000 yards' said the pilot?

Why are some cars taking quite long? The technician told me that it will do on the same day.

depends on how many options you have on your car, and therefore how many modules need updating (because they all need doing when you have the software done).

Plus the update is done with really crappy technology which has a slow transfer speed and is prone to crashing - which happened when they did mine. It also took my rev counter out , and they needed an extra day to completely reprogram the car.

Yes you can, It does not matter when your car was built as long as you have any of the 2004 DVD's.

TMC is not all it's made out to be, on a return to London from Glasgow last night it warned me about 3 delays, these were displayed on the map. When I got to the delay points still displayed on the sat nav there was nothing, these systems are only as good as the people and radio stations that keep them up dated. The one jam i did encounter when i came off the motorway was not mentioned, this was a major route reduced from 3 lanes to 1 !

Don't blame the radio stations though, they get their info from the same place as TMC!

It's actually the controllers of motorway and trunk road information that should be keeping things more up to date.
