The Boxster just won the title of Car and Driver's Best Handling Car in the latest issue of the magazine... The M3 was only fourth, and way down on points. The Z4 never even made the shortlist. Amongst others, the Boxster was judged to be a better handler than the Z06, M3, Nissan GT-R, and the Lotus Elise SC.

NEXT SHIFTING QUESTION:

anyone have any pointers for "the launch?" I am a little afraid if the rev and pop the clutch technique. I have tried feathering the clutch, with revving up the RPM.

Any pointers?

Good one!

I usually launch carefully - I keep my clutch engaged just a split second as I'm releasing it and keep the revs down to about 1200. As soon as I feel the drivetrain connect, I drop the clutch and mash the gas pedal.

Also, I find that when I launch with the DCT enabled, the car will lurch forward and then hold back, so for the best launch, I find that holding down the DCT button until it disengages assures smooth launches. Ans since I have an AWD E60, spin is not an issue.

And guys, I did not start this thread to brag about launches and sh!t, so keep it civilized and adult, ok!

I keep the clutch pressed down JUST before the engagement point, rev up, make sure you have enough gas so you don't bob down, and pop the clutch...takes a little practice because if you don't time it right the car bogs down..

So you "over-gas" to avoid that bobbing down (or whatever you call that)? hmmm At what point on the tach do you release the clutch?
