Not really, the poll asks Which car would you spend your money on?
All I have to say is, if you are arguing with those on this forum, go buy the Lexus and you could post all you want on the lexus board. good luck with you lexus!

Actually , yes!

If you use your brain - Lexus, if you use your heart - BMW

Yeah, but the topic title says "Which of these two is for me?" and the original poster clearly asks what car we think he should get.

Since the poll was contrary to the subject, I didn't vote in it, I just offered my opinion based on what I think is best for him...

This is SAD he's not arguing with anyone, wher did you get that from!!??? Lanzaman is just asking our opinion on a choice of two brilliant cars.

Lanzaman, if you want a pwerful car to take you from A to B (Home to work) and back in:

Comfort, refinement, with all the luxuries and peace of mind that it will start every morning and to be treated like the queen of England when you go to service it = Buy the Lexus

Buy the BMW only for driving fun in the weekend. IMHO

I can tell you that the BMW is a great fun to drive, but I am honest enough to tell you that the vast majority of the driving time most people do will not use more than 20% this car's capabilities & potential.

The BMW sells on the ground of SPORTS rather than Luxury whereas the Lexus sells on the grounds of Luxury & refinement. It is best compared to Mercedes I think.

Are you even thinking about it?

How can I put this.... Lexus, (the best of Japanese) these cars have no soul.... They make cars to sell and make up the numbers. BMWs and most other brands (Mercs - to some extent, Porsches) have soul and while you cant put your finger on why, you just love them forever 'cos they are built like you could own them forever.

I see 'Batmobiles' and 'SLs', how many Z cars are on the road today? You even see the old old 3 series, with owners loving them more and more... Jap cars? Where are the early LS400s, still great to look at? Ok, what about BMWs of the same era?

Oh and I just ditched my Lexus IS200 for my current E60 525i. It did everything I asked but was just empty, same for the GS350 Hybrid.

I bet you, you will let it go next year if you did get the Lex and hate it.

I really depends on your personality - if you just want quiet, reliable transportation - the Lexus is for you. If you enjoy driving, the BMW is the clear choice and I really do not think you will miss all the options on the Lexus.

I test drove a GS after I tested a 5-series and I could not wait until the test drive was over - the GS was such a boring vehicle!
You've said it all Low Orbit... That was my feeling exactly, I could not wait for the test drive to be over, and this was with a GS Hybrid with everything as standard. Boring was an understatement.

Oh, and sorry Lanzaman, I don't think people (me inc.) meant to be harsh or rude, after all you were only seeking opinions. It's just how passionate people feel about their 'Ultimate Driving Machines' that was shining through in the comments.

Goodluck Deciding... :'(

No it doesn't mean that.....Lexus does platform sharing (Lex GS/Toyota Avalon - Mercedes SLK/Chrysler Crossfire) and interchanges many other components and the list goes on and on....on the other hand BMW does not....with no other car....period !

I beg to differ...
