The BMW is a lovely HARDCORE Sports sedan (especially in the M Sports pack)

The Lexus is a brilliant mix between HARDCORE luxury & refinement with SOFTCORE Sports.

Personally, I would go the Lexus way in this particular comparison. A V8 for the same price as an inline 6 and with all the added goodies AND Brand New

Just beeing objective.

I have 2 sisters with Lexus'. Seems more geared to be a woman's car as opposed to a 530.

But as it stands 25% of you would go for the Lexus...
This is NOT true. Those who voted for the Lexus think that you should go for the Lexus. Big difference, if you ask me!

From what I read in your replies, you seem to be more partial for the the Lexus.

Dear members

I am facing a choice dilemma here in the UK between two (Dream cars). I know this is a BMW enthusiasts forum and therefore there will be some biased opinions, but I hope you vote objectively.

Both cars are at the same price.
Car 1: BMW 530i M Sport Automatic

Model year 2005 (258 ) with 12,000 miles

Comes with modest options:
Leather
Media pack (Sat Nav professional, Bluetooth, CD Changer & Voice recognition).
Car 2: Lexus GS430

Brand New 2006 model

As you all now the car comes loaded with
Adaptive cruise control, Adaptive suspension, active steering, Mark Levinson sound system, heated & cooled seats which are fully electric with memory, electric rear blinds, easy close boot, electric folding mirrors, electric sun roof, Xenon & adaptive headlights, reversing camera, electric steering wheel...etc.
The BMW has in its favour the Space & handling & fuel consumption

The Lexus has the Refinement, comfort, Kit, reliability & straight line performance (HP)

In the UK it also has the better dealer service & better warranty in addition to the fact the car is Brand new.

The Lexu
I am in two minds ? please help

I was considering buying GS430 but after test driving it for an hour I said no

The Lexus is smooth and refined but it has no character. To some ppl they enjoy the feel of the speed of 60mph while actually driving at the speed of 1oomph...but not for me.

I will buy a Lexus when I do not need any excitement in life...........

Hey if you have your heart on the Lexus anyway buy the GS350---more horsepower less fuel consumption or wait for the GS hybrids

It is just my suggestion hope it helps!

I think the e60 is a better car, but out of the two choices, I'd think I'd go for the brand new Lexus?

How much would a new 530 cost in the UK, because it seems that both cars should be roughly the same price brand new.
nice looking exhaust what are those?

Great suggestion here except for the hybrid comment.

Sorry didn't associate the M sport with the sport pack. Okay, I'll assume this has active roll and comfort seats. Seems like it has the key goodies but missing features such as L7 sound, heated seats, and active steer. The GS has all these. I'd test drive the GS350 for sure and then the 530 again. Your essentially giving up a sound system and a bit more comfort with the 5er. But its more fun to drive and more distinctive. The 12K mileage isn't a big thing and reliability concerns are overrated IMHO. Waranty anyone? I'd rule slightly in favor of BMW.

Ask yourself this. If that 5er was loaded and forgeting price for a moment, would the 530 be the clear choice for you? Should the anwer be well not really or an outright no, puff, I see a Lexus in your future. Sometimes its unavoidable to not pay up $$ to get your dream car. What about a 535 down the road?

Just my two cents.

I voted the Lexus. I don't know your age, but I think you need a "softer" car than a BMW.
