I wouldn't mind having every bulletin they produce on squeeks and other noises. That way I could buy the lubricants and felts myself and just sit around imagining I heard a noise so I could fix it.

Sadly, I'm not joking.

Well my doors started to creak and rattle again yesterday. Ist time since October. I keep a tube of Carboflo in the armrest. Applied it on all 4 felt seals. Rattles and creaks gone. Hopefully til the ned of May.

I think that part of the problem occurs when the felt lining the doors gets wet from rain or washing. I've left my back doors open to dry the felt and this eliminated the squeaking. I've fixed rattling of the rear parcel shelf by placing felt at the top of the rear seat, between the seat and the back shelf. I've done it in 3 places:
* between where the rear seat and right passenger plastic seat belt housing
* between the rear seat and to the left of the middle seat (when facing rearward)
* between the center seat plstic housing and rear seat.

Hi. I have also had this problem with rattles from the backseat. Had it in with my dealer 6 times. No solution. Now I think I?ve found it myself. I applied Carbaflo to the seal close to the rear window (one of the ones you find whn you open the trunk). There are two seals. The one close to the rear windowis a touch harderr than the one sealing the trunk. When I put Carbaflo on that the creaking noise disapeared.

My car has had so many creaks and issues with the rear seat, back deck (been in the dealership for weeks and over 5 times) that its going back to BMW (Lemon Law out here in CA). 14 months and the cars been in the shop more than on the road. I have had it. Door seals, the rear seat, body flex etc... what a waste on a fun driving car.

Got my car back from the dealer yesterday and they did find and repair the rattle...

The SA wrote it up as a squeak... work order stated " could not find a squeak but did find a rattle coming from vent under rear window." So they pulled out the parcel shelf and line the vent with felt tape. No more rattle for now.

Silly question, but where did you get your 'felt'? And what kind of felt?

You can find felt at fabric and craft stores. I got a couple of black 8 X 8 inch square pieces and cut it into strips.
