This happened to my 04 530i as i was about to enter a CAR WASH!! i did the same thing i closed it but added closing pressure with my hand and it closed and locked the next day it all worked fine on its own

thats because there was a slight shift you pretty much just pushed it back to place, i finally understand how that works now

Your sunroof has to be reset which is something you can do and takes 5 seconds. Press the button and let it recylce through opening / tilt / closing and it will correct the problem. Mine did the same thing when i had my car detailed the guy didnt know what he was doing and held the sunroof button to long to close it so it kept reopening to the same position he had it at when cleaning the inside of my car. Its the memory feature the sunroof has if you cant figure it out bmw will do it for you just pull in the bay and tell the service guy / girl you held the button to long and programed your roof to open half way he or she will reset it at no charge. There might be something in the owners manual to about it.
