I've been out of the audio business for quite some time (like 12 yrs or so) but i just lost interest in trying to modify cars. eventually you get bored with a master creation and if you don't find a master creation you end up going route "B' and lose some usability. For instance look at that guy's custom box in Link 1 or 2 above and ask yourself "what if I need to replace a rear bulb?" lol Sucks. I too do not have the Ski hatch but I've use a 2 inch door hole saw to create a few holes from the inside there is a velcro piece of leather.

I wouldn't say you lost interest! Cuz your cars still look slick!

It takes less than 5 minutes to remove the whole system, plus i still have an useful trunk. I carry 2 CDJ turntables, mixer and DJ bag and still have plenty of space. Thats one of the advantages of going IB. The only thing i had to sacrifice was the front stage. i didnt like the look of the big oversize Dynaudio tweets in the A-pillars so i had to do kick panels.

Default Rear Deck, install larger speakers.

Hi guys, I'm only about 7 years too late ...damn kid.

2004 BMW 545i. Logic 7

What is your opinion on replacing the rear deck 4" drivers with something a little bigger? Maybe 5 1/4 or 6 1/2.

Yesterday, installed a brand new 6-year-old JL Audio XD600/6, without using Technics Cable ... yes it was foolish.
The system sounds much better.

Looking for a fairly simple solution to put a couple of larger drivers in the rear deck, nothing special, not a lot of cutting, none would be preferable.

Is this feasible? Did this back around 1990 to my 325 with B&W speakers/Soundstream Amps and incredible sound.

Thanks in advance ... assuming anybody is still out there
