Thanks much for all the replies!!! I'll tell the dealer about it when I take it in. I didn't think that it should be making that noise. I appreciate all the help!!

Update: I got in the car and heard that clicking noise again. Well, I wanted to put a different CD in the single player so I hit the eject button and the darn thing spit out the disc and sounded like a chain saw cutting concrete during the eject process. I told the dealer about it and I'm getting a new CD player. If any of you guys are hearing this noise, try to hit the eject button before the noise goes away and see what happens!!!

I've also got the same problem with my single CD player. It's most noticable when I leave a CD in the player and listen to the radio. It's an annoying clicking noise. It's been doing this since new - so for 2 years now. I also thought I'd get the dealer to look at it as I've only got 1 year warranty left. They agreed it was a fault and are replacing the whole CD unit on Monday.
Think i also see the idrive screen 'flash' once out of corner of my eye when this is happening

My Ride: 2005 525i sport/premium pkg, nav.
Hi everyone,
I notice that this is an older topic but I just wanted to chime in just in case the problem pops up for anyone else. I have an '05 525i that did the same thing. My car was under warranty while this was happening. After numerous software upgrades, a CD, and a DVD replacement (all covered under warranty) they said that it was the CCC (main computer) that needed to be replaced. It's been about 6 months since and I haven't heard the noise. They said that this was a known problem so they were able to submit to BMW for warranty repair. I did have to take my car back to the dealer about 5 times before they got down to the root of the problem.
Best regards,
E.

My in-dash CD, which I don't use much because I have a changer, used to click a lot and I was about to get it replaced. I ejected the CD and it had some sort of sticky goop on it that looked like adhesive from tape. I am positive it didn't go in that way. I cleaned up the CD and it, as well as all others have worked fine ever since and without any clicking. My guess is that some sort of head park tape or similar had been left in the changer. Before you pay to have yours replaced, maybe you should try running a cleaning disk through it.
