GOOD DAY ALL

ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I NOTICED AN OCCASIONAL SQUEAK ON A BUMPY ROAD. NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE MY 545 IS FULL OF MICE EVEN ON FAIRLY SMOOTH ROAD SURFACE. CAR AT THE DEALER NOW......SAYS IT IS THE DOOR SEALS AND A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM BUT MY SQUEAKS ARE EXCEPTIONALLY LOUD. SAYS HE WILL SPRAY SEALS WITH SOMETHING FROM
BMW THAT USUALLY FIXES THIS BUT ADMITS IT MAY NOT QUIET MINE. 900.00 TO REPLACE ALL SEALS. CAR HAS 54K ON IT AND TECH. SAYS BMW WILL NOT AID IN REPLACEMENT COSTS SINCE PAST 50 K COVERAGE.BODY FLEX AND SEALS ...

ANY SUGGESTIONS? OTHER THAN SELL CAR.......... LOVE MY E60. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS ISSUE??

THANKS ALL

Mine was replaced under warranty I think your only option is to pay the $900.

There was a previous thread about using Vasaline on the seals. I've also used the same method and it worked for me, giving it a shot may not hurt.

Mine too, my SA asked me if they were noisy on a regular service visit before I hit 50k miles so they could be replaced under warranty. I noticed they also put a clear tape around the door openings.

I wonder if this would be covered under the CPO warranty

I have a 2009 535i (3 months old and 2k miles), with ALL window seals creaking. It's going in this Thursday to get fixed. I'm surprised that BMW has not fixed this problem after all these years...

If I were you, I would spend the money and get the problem fixed. The creaking sound takes away some of the fun of having this car.

I remember there have been discussions about this problem before. The squeaking can be caused by wax getting between the seal and the door frame. On my car it usually starts after about a year. My solution is to toroughly clean the contact area of the door frame using "Goof Off" to remove any wax, grease or dirt. Then I use a brush (toothbrush or similar) to clean the velour seal from dust. Finally I lightly wipe over the seal with a cloth moistened with "Goof Off". That's it - noise gone. This is a fairly quick and inexpensive method (compared to shelling out 900 bucks for new seals) and it worked for me so far. Give it a try.

Don't spend the $900 at the dealer. Buy the parts from Garry @ Newport BMW with 25% discount and replace them yourself. Those seals are easy to remove, if you have seen the DIY for removing the chrome trims. Good luck.

my car windows recently started squeeking. if i roll them down a litle bit, the noise goes away.
and funny thing is, last time i was at the car wash, i sprayed wax on the glass too.

either the glass edges have to be 100 percent clean, or the seals need to be conditioned with something. time to experiment.

Take a 1/2 inch paint brush and some talcum powder and apply to the rubber seals liberally. Clean up the spillage with a moist rage from interior trim or use a vacuum. I did this 10K ago and have not had a problem since!
