Thanks guys! Now i'm more confused than ever haha. I was hoping those questions could help me eliminate choices but I guess it didn't.
So basically
1. 2007 530i is good, but N52 and M54 engine?
2. 2005 545i is good as well, but I think it's a little old. Correct me?
3. 2008 528i is a little on the slow side, but only 25hp difference, guess I won't mind. Putting it as last resort if I can't find a good 530i nor 545i.
4. Would u guys say electronic is every BMW's main concern? If 3rd party warranty can cover that, does that mean I should just get any pre-owned and get it inspected by BMW instead of buying CPO for the CPO warranty?
5. How does the $0 maintenance work? free brake pad and oil change? is it worth it?
6. Lastly. What is the best value on an E60 that I can get with $30k
Thank you guys. I'm asking all these questions because I WANT AN E60! I heard its GEWDDDDDDD

1. good car, good engine...one of the more reliable bmw produced.
2. yes it's old in that it won't be covered under any warranty unless it's a questionable third-party warranty. not a bad car, just no protection.
3. i would skip a 528, but that's me. the weight of the bmw requires it to meet a certain threshold of power to be quick on any level and i think 250 is the minimum on that. everything under seems pokey (to me).
4. i don't know why people are dissing the CPO warranty and you clearly didn't read what i wrote. CPO covers electronics, just not audio/nav. see link below.
5. not worth it.
6. CPO - 528/530. maybe find a 2006-2007 535/550, probably not. used, your pick of the lot.

My car still has the manufacturer warranty for another 9 months. As it stands now I'll probably keep it long enough to see what the 6er Grand Coupe looks like (still not a fan of the F11). So I'll most likely go with a 3rd party warranty

ah thank you tuffluck
I guess 545i is eliminated from my choice.
Looks like I'll continue my search on 07 530i and 08 528i (or 535i if I like HPFP failure) and stick with CPO cars. As for oil change and wear and tear items I'll just change them at a local shop that specializes in BMW?
Does any of those sound right?

From the way the warranty is worded, I guess it would cover things like HUD or NV though.

The 08 to present 528 uses the same engine as the 2006/2007 530. BMW decided to detune it and call it the 528 for some reason.
You can't go wrong with either one. They are great engines.

also there are a lot more electrical components to cars even than just the CCC. every car has a CCC of sorts these days. i think the particulars in bmw are more complex. anything in idrive, any electrical switch, any faulty wiring, etc. all that would ideally be covered under the CPO warranty.
