well they do need to fix most of the bugs before then put it on the M5 to sell.
1 to 2 years sound about right.

Why AMG don't need that much time?

I drove the new E350 4matic (you can only buy 4matic in Canada in the sedan). It was a little softer than the comparable e60 cornering wise. It also feels slower than the numbers indicate. It felt about as quick as an e60 530xi with the 255HP engine, but way less nimble and "mushy" to a point in the sense of suspension feel. However, it feels as solid and stable going down the road as any 5 series. I would choose this car over a 5 series for driving across country. It feels like a car for a driver who is 15 years older than the typical 5 series driver. The 535xi would spank this car in every performance category, which is fair as the Merc is rated at 265HP if I'm not mistaken. A fairer fight would be the 535xi against the E550, which is a bit faster than the e60 550i. The front view is the best, especially with the AMG appearance package.
The interior was just beautiful. A cut above the new 7 series in my view. Seats are excellent and the ergonomics are really good. It feels larger inside than the e60 as well.
If they stiffend up the suspension a little I think they might be able to win over some BMW owners (the ones that buy the cars for how they drive). They WILL win over some BMW owners (the ones who buy for status only).
Pricing is significantly less in Canada than an equivalent 535xi. Probably about $10k cheaper at around $72,900 as tested. This is really helpful for those of us waiting for the F10, as it will put downward pressure on the BMW.
Just some random impressions, but all in all a very good car... if not a driver's car.
