Excuse me for being a bit dense, but how can upgrading the software change the mechanicals on Active Steering? My cars s/ware has been upgraded three times and on each occassion I have noticed no changes to the car whatsoever.

Anyone out there an expert on this subject?

All it can change is how the computer controls the active steering.

Remember the system has a electric motor in it that is controled by the computer

I popped in to my dealer today and asked them about upgrades, perhaps they might of had the 16.2 soon 'but when i mentioned it i got a blank look I asked then if they could find out, but i don't hold out much hope.

SW updates can change driving dynamics. Obviously not the "mechanicals" but the ratio is computer govermed. You probably would not see any chnages because AS has not been changed since CIP 13x

All you should need to do to avoid being charged is mention that you have a problem known to be fixed by the latest upgrade. You can always just ask for the upgrade but they sometimes will charge you labor to do it.
