When the E60 was first launched in the UK there was a "Traffic Master" option costing ?1,300 but only available in conjuction with Sat Nav (Only business available in UK at time of launch). The option is not mentioned anywhere now nor have I ever seen it on early used models.
I asked my dealer and he said there is a new similar system out thats included with sat nav pro.
Does anyone know anything about this?
Is there a traffic jam indicator combined re-router included with sat nav pro?

Merv,
I had TMC added to my Bus Nav for free during my last SW upgrade. I dont know if this is the same as traffic master since i believe that Traffic master has its own broadcast system.
TMC seems good enough - has helped me out a few times but it more useful on long journeys as it has more choices for rerouting. It has helped me a few times.
Also, the Kids have developed a new game ----
"Daaaaaad. ? ... how far is it to the nearest crash ?"
Pro Nav has the same feature - but this is TMC and not Traffic master.

So it sounds as though TMC has superceded Traffic master. Perhaps BMW thought the deleted ?1,300 option was unpopular and decided to incorporate TMC with sat nav pro/bus.

[/quote]Yep I agree 1300 is a stupid amount of money for this feature especially when it is just SW. Thi can be simply retrofitted to all cars with Nav although I had to argue hard with my dealer to retro-fit it as they claimed it was a cost option. I ended up printing some pages from this forum that described the process and handed to the tech guy (not the service guy) before my SW upgrade. He just enabled it for me for no cost.
I would expect it to come for free with either Pro or Bus nav for the latest cars. I hope you get it on your new car when it comes.
Merv, I believe you are talking about THIS.
SmartNav was (is?) available as alternative to Pro and Business Nav in the UK. There is no screen based information at all with SmartNav, however, if you have a look around the website, you will see some pretty nifty features are available that you can't get with either of the other nav options - including the TrafficMaster integration.
