Ok just tried it and nope, can not get DIS to auto read the VIN and ZSC/FA in the key or car programming menu..

noticed the E60 is not listed in the other programming menu seems to go up to the E53?

Thats the same thing I got, I think we need SSS/Progman not DIS/GT1, having said that you should be able to do diagnostics and play around with the tests or at least I can.

IP for DIS should be .30 (does not matter really), but the IP address in /etc/ediabas.ini should be .1 (and the local machine should have this IP as well. With .30 it WILL NOT WORK. I only managed a couple of times to get DIS to autoread the model number, most of the times it does not as there is not enough battery power ... and it complains about this. However it should let you chose the model manually.

So to get things straight.

Laptop should have ip 192.168.68.1 (and it should be running Diaghead, ifhserv and ifhserv32.exe)
DIS should have IP 192.168.68.30 and hostname gt1ap

/etc/ediabas.ini should have the following configuration

[TCP]

RemoteHost = Diaghead
#RemoteHost = tarantella
Port = 6801

If it does not work replace Diaghead with ip 192.168.68.1
try to ping Diaghead before proceeding. If you do not manage, check your virtual network settings.

/etc/hosts should look like this:

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.68.30 gt1ap
192.168.68.1 Diaghead

Please note that Diaghead and diaghead are different. Linux is CasE SeNsItIvE.

If ping is successful, try /usr/ediabas/bin/apitest. Another confirmation that it works is if ifhserv32.exe displays DIS's IP address in the taskbar when you hover the mouse over. Also it helps to run INPA before trying this to 'initialise' the COM connection, howerer INPA should not be running with DIS simultaneously.

The IP conflict issue is solved by running 'scoadmin' from Unix terminal, removing the present AMD PCNET adapter 1 and adding a new connection.

Sort of, my car was updated with ISTA/p v38 and progman was kicking my car out and complaining that the software was newer than progmans own. I have managed to update the data files with the ones from ISTA/p v38 and I
can now access my car but only car and key memory settings.
