SMG- Anyone have car pop out of first gear?
Thanks for the help everyone. Good forum, most start bashing people for simple questions (only read for that reason, never ask). I haven't noticed any of that here
Now the search is on for an SMG, which is very hard to find in my area. "Katrina Cars" :'( Does anyone know how many 545s came with SMG?
AC_S5: Yeah the lock up caused my wreck. 500k recalls on Honda/Acura transmissions and I think Acura recalled every seatbelt for the '02 model TL-S. I remember my '99 Prelude had the transmission replaced 3 times within the first year.

I had the transmission slam when in auto mode when i first got the car but was fixed with 16.2 software... and has been problem free since.
Have you heard of the tranmissions slams with the automatics? THe autos have their own fair share of problems... I think SMG have one problem more than the Autos is the hydraluic pumps other than that its fine and theres really not that many cases of it... problem is you hear more of the SMG problems than autos since SMG owners are more likely car enthusiast and will post on message boards...

I'm pretty sure most 545 SMGs were special ordered. It's rare to find a dealer ordered 545 SMG.

This is exactly why I'm always advocating that you should manually downshift the SMG well before the car finds it necessary to do it for you -- even if you're about to come to a complete stop. (Anyone interested in reading my rantings on the subject, do a search and set aside some quality time!

It has now happened twice within a few weeks, both times going slow when I came off of the gas. It displayed neutral on the dash, it was in neutral (free reving) but the shifter was in drive position.
