2006 550i. Dealer ran my VIN and said no require updates are found for this car. But I've heard (again, i could be wrong) that some other owners who had slow idrive improved after they got an update. Plus there are more features. I would want to get it for free if possible or maybe just nothing over $100. (still in process of saving for gateway 500)

Seriously now, no more slug jokes. Mine was a dog when I had an error filled copy of the NAV DVD installed. It never displayed anything indicating an error, but the whole iDrive system just dragged, errrr was slugish, all the time. So I second SilberGraus recommendation to pull the CD's and DVD's, especially the DVD's.

ya i'll do that when i get home. Doh I just spent $20 on a copied 2011 nav dvd =( I hope it works and wont drag it down

true that its not covered for audio...but (and a member on this forum successfully argued the following point), the i drive also controls the ac/heat settings and they have to replace on this basis if the idrive is bad. there was a whole discussion on this forum about this. good luck

thanks, someone also argued with GPS locking up intermittenly so I think I will use these 2 points to argue. I hope it works and the dealer doesn't call my bluff =P
