Audio Stays On

E60 (5 Series) with CCC, E63/E64 (6 Series)
From start of production up to October 18, 2004
SITUATION
Customer states the vehicle audio is coming on and stays on, even when the ignition is off and the car is locked.
CAUSE
Interference on open PIN 16 of the CCC main connector.
CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis only, ground the open PIN 16 of the CCC main connector X13812.
Remove all necessary trim parts and the CCC. Refer to Repair Instruction RA 65 83 010 (Removing and installing/replacing Car Communication Computer).
Make up an additional ground wire (approx. 4 feet long) using 1.5 mm insulated wire.
Double crimp the female terminal P/N 61 13 1 387 144 on one side (ground splice) and the AMP female terminal P/N 61 13 8 364 838 (CCC connector) on the other side to the wire using the AMP crimping tool P/N 61 9 041 (Hand pliers for 2.5 mm contacts).
Connect the wire to the ground splice behind the glove box and run it to the CCC main connector PIN16 (this is an empty slot).
5. Before installing the wire to the CCC main connector X13812, remove the locking tab by sliding to the right as shown.
6. Install the ground wire terminal into the empty slot PIN16 on the CCC main connector, until the terminal is physically locked into position.
7. Slide the locking tab back into locking position.
8. Re-install the CCC and all removed trim parts. Refer to RA Repair Instruction 65 83 010 (Removing and installing/replacing Car Communication Computer).

With an open connector pin, this is probably an electromagnetic interference issue and may explain why it is not being seen by everyone. While an EMC issue that turns the radio on is pretty bad, I don't know of too many manufacturers that would do a full recall for it. Hopefully none of you have had drained batteries from this, and for those that have seen this problem, I hope this truly fixes it.

I thought if you have advance aircon you also have a CCC. Im not sure though. This would mean all US spec cars have the CCC.

Ok. But isn't there a special computer for cars with Advanced aircon? If you have basic a/c you have differt computer i think. Maybe im wrong. I remember reading something somewhere a while ago.
