If I press it nothing happens

I didnot renew the service after the year, and recently had an upddate done, not sure what version but it gave me my RDS function back.

iirc, the sos button will only work with a valid BMW assist subscription.

I bought my car as a CPO car. The first year of BMW assist had expired and I did not renew it. If I push my SOS button, someone answers (I know because I tried it). I don't know if they would actually help me as I just told them I was testing the system to determine if I wanted to renew the service. They gave me my exact location as a demonstration.

If I had a real emergency, I don't know if they would help or tell me I'm out of luck.

Had my car updated about a month and half ago to version 20.02 or something like that. I just tried my SOS button again today, and it placed a call. I do not subscribe to BMW assist. I disconnected before it answered, but it did ring. So, I don't think an update turns this off. Maybe the dealer specifically turned it off during the update.

Read the manual and the accompanying leaflet on such services. It comes with the first year (although my dealer said it needed to be activated once I installed my phone). Now with BT etc, I have never tried it, but suppose I should during the freebie period. It is certainly subscription beyond the first year, but I bet renewal rates are low. Ask the satellite radio guys...

The reason you are having this problem, is because you need to do a BMW assit update through I-Drive, in order for BMW Assit to work.

It will ring, but they will not have your car location.

If you go to settins, communication, click update bmw service.

That should active it, but you still have to pay for it in order to use it.

Its a great service, I pay for it and use it all the time, except somtimes i have error in it.

What situation requires you to use BMW assist "all the time"?

It's $240 a year. I keep paying for it, for some reason. I got lost in downtown Memphis, TN once, with no handguns in the car, and the BMW girl got me out of there.

That's worth $500, at least.

I think know for all 2007 E60's they will be offering it for 4 years im not sure if it's really 4 years or 2 but it won't be concierge just the BMW assist SOS, I think there is a difference.

Anyone with experience can confirm, please?
