My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Other thoughts:
* the 550 has square dual exhaust tips that cover dual double barrel shotgun tips (like the db shotgun tips the M's have), why???
* both cars we saw had the sports package and the gloss black window trim. But the door handles are still chrome???
* the rear seat felt the same as room goes.
* the trunk is deeper, you may be able to lay a bag of golf clubs front-to-back.
* the wheels were kind of generic looking
* the front hood looks good, the back looks bland
* you don't get the sense that the rear tires are wider than the fronts, were they as I couldn't read a size off of the sidewalk?
* The car did not appear taller.

I'm actually looking at the new MB E550 Cabriolet. I would get the F10 with the M SPort package but it won't be ready until sometime next year. My current car is up in July 2010.

I still have to call BMWNA to see if I can extend, but extend until when? BMW annoyingly keeps everything secret about when things will be available. If I knew that next June the M Sport option will be available I probably would extend and wait.
I don't dislike the F10 but it looks too generic and not sporty enough, I do think that they exhaust is too quiet as well.

I think that our group here on 5 Series Forum are in the minority of the BMW consumers. I think that the general soccer moms and mid-level execs buy a BMW because of the name and not for what the car can actually do. BMW can't make the sport package too agressive, or the exhaust note too loud because there are many buyers that get "all the option" with out regard for what these options do to the vehicle and they provide for a huge up selling and profits.
