I went to the dealer today and asked for a complete list of options that my car came with, and one of the features was the S638A: Complete Prep. Cell Phone USA/CDN package.

I don't have the module or the phone, so the question is...Is it worth having the car phone kit? How many people here actually use the BMW phone system instead of their personal cell/smart phone?

Other options my car has that I don't understand...

1-S605A Telematic Preparation, is this the shark fin antenna preparation for Cell phone?
2-S697A Area Code 1 for DVD, I think this means Region code 1 (North America) but I don't have DVD
3-S845A Acoustic Belt Warning, not sure what this is.

Hmm, are you sure this is for a separate BMW phone?

I got the impression that the package just pre-wires the car to be used with a phone adapter in the arm rest. The shark fin then also acts as an antenna to improve your cellphone reception.
